Q. What is a ringtone?

top
A. A ringtone is the sound made by a telephone to indicate an incoming call. The term is most often used to refer to the customizable sounds available on mobile phones.

Types of Ringtones:

Monophonic
Early phones had the ability to play only monophonic ringtones, short tunes played with simple tones.

Polyphonic
Polyphonic means that multiple tones can be played at the same time using instrument sounds such as guitar, drums, electronic piano, etc. Many phones are now able to play more complex polytones; up to 128 individual notes with different instruments are played simultaneously to give a more realistic musical sound.

Music Ringtones or True Tones
Often called either music ring tones, voice tones, realtones or true tones, now use actual pieces of music, along with all lyrics and the entire song backing music, including backing singers. They are the actual song and voice you hear on the radio.

Q. What is a mobile phone?

top
A. A mobile phone is a portable electronic device which behaves as a normal telephone while being able to move over a wide area (compare cordless phone which acts as a telephone only within a limited range). Mobile phones allow connections to be made to the telephone network, normally by directly dialing the other party's number on an inbuilt keypad.

Q. What is SMS?

top
A. Short Message Service (SMS) is a service available on most digital mobile phones that permits the sending of short messages (also known as SMSes, text messages, messages, or more colloquially texts or even txts) or text messages between mobile phones, other handheld devices and even landline telephones.
